A distributor for ShopRite’s Bowl & Basket Onion Soup Mix is recalling the product after the packaging did not disclose an egg allergen, putting people with allergies at risk.
The distributor, Missouri-based Gilster-Mary Lee Corp., announced the recall on Tuesday after a customer complained that the soup mix did not disclose an egg allergen.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the recall on the same day, and added a warning to those with egg allergies and severe sensitivities to stay away from the product to avoid “serious or life-threatening allergic reactions.”
No illnesses or adverse reactions have been reported in connection to this recall to date.
The two lots of Bowl & Basket Onion Soup Mix affected by this recall were sold as 2-ounce cartons with “best-by” dates of Sept. 27, 2025, and Oct. 11, 2025, and contain the product code “41190-08394.”
The soup mixes were distributed to ShopRite’s parent company, Wakefern’s, distribution centers in Elizabeth, New Jersey.
Consumers who bought the products are urged to throw them out or return them to their local ShopRite store for a full refund.
